Founded in February, 2009, Stephen Dargo Architect is a full service architectural practice servicing commercial and residential clients. Building on 10 years of experience in various firms in New York City, SDA aims to take advantage of these tough times by creating a design aesthetic for clients that is both budget-conscience as well as architecturally responsive to the needs of the end user.

About Stephen Dargo:

I am a graduate of Columbia University School of Architecture Planning and Preservation (March, 1999). My undergraduate work was at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, (B.S. 1994), where I majored in the History of Culture. I have been practicing architecture at private firms in NYC since 1999.

I have worked on a variety of interesting and challenging projects in the past decade. Most recently, at Dattner Architects, I worked closely with the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum on the rebuilding of Pier 86 where I was responsible for the design and construction of the glass elevator and stair access towers that adorn the new pier. I worked on all aspects of the project, from Schematic Design through Construction Administration. A recent article in Metal Architecture magazine from January 2009 describes the project, as well as my involvement, in greater detail. (Click here).

I have extensive experience in running projects from Schematic Design through Construction Administration, working closely with clients, contractors and consultants. I have run multiple projects simultaneously since my first job at a+I Design Corporation in 1999. The projects I have worked on have varied in size from small commercial interior projects to major Master Planning for a large local Union, to the prominent towers at the Intrepid.

I am self-motivated, and based on my professional and academic work, I would be able to bring to bear an experienced approach to any architectural project.
